Version 2.5.0.0

Changes in this release:

Type Tool Description
Enhancement - Open file dialogues within each tool now select the initial folder for the dialogue based on the previous file opened in that dialogue within that tool; the initial folder is no longer influenced by the use of open dialogues within another of the tools.
Enhancement Font Sample The tool can now make use of PCL5 user-defined symbol sets (as generated by the new Symbol Set Generate tool) as well as standard printer-resident sets.
Error clearance Form Sample The first time that this tool was loaded, error messages were displayed, indicating that one or more files (with default names) did not exist.
The error message(s) will now be produced only when the Generate ... button is clicked, if the referenced form file(s) do not exist.
Error clearance Form Sample The setting of the Print descriptive text checkbox was ignored for PCL6 jobs (the equivalent PCL5 setting was used instead).
Error clearance Make Overlay The first time that this tool was loaded, the application crashed (due to a missing registry entry).
Enhancement Print Languages
PRN File Analyse
List of HP-GL/2 commands updated to include DC, DP, EC, MG, NR, OD, ST, VS.
These commands are used on plotters, rather than printers.
Enhancement Print Languages
PRN File Analyse
List of PCL sequences updated to include <esc>*b#L, <esc>*d#W.
These sequences are used on (some) inkjet printers, rather than laser printers.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Colour Lookup Tables sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Configuration (I/O) sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Configure Raster Data sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Define Logical Page sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Define Symbol Set sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Download Dither Matrix sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Driver Configuration sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Escapement Encapsulated Text sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Palette Configuration sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL User Defined Pattern sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse Optionally interpret the data associated with PCL Viewing Illuminant sequences.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse The interpretation of the data associated with PCL Configure Image Data sequences now interprets the extra data associated with the 'long' form of the sequence.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse If the application is associated (using standard file-association mechanisms) with one or more file types, then when a file of one of those file types is opened (e.g. by 'double-click', or 'Open with'), the application is started and the file is automatically opened in the PRN File Analyse tool.
If the 'Automatically analyse file after Open' option is set, the open file is then analysed automatically.
Enhancement PRN File Analyse The Character Complement byte array within the header of unbound soft fonts (Intellifont or TrueType) is now decoded.
Error clearance PRN File Analyse The Character Complement byte array was never shown in the interpretation of the header of an unbound Intellifont soft font.
Error clearance PRN File Analyse The Set options dialogue is now scaled in accordance with the Options | Zoom value set via the main menu.
Error clearance PRN File Analyse The enumerated values associated with the PCL XL CustomMediaSizeUnits attribute are now interpreted.
Error clearance PRN File Analyse If the file to be analysed contained HP-GL/2 commands separated with control-code characters (e.g. Carriage Return and/or Line Feed), reporting was inhibited until the next Escape character was found; such separators are now reported correctly.
Error clearance Print Languages
Soft Font Generate
For the Windows Latin 1 Symbol Set, two code-points (0x8d and 0x9d) were wrongly mapped; the practical effect was minimal, as these code-points are not mapped to graphic characters.
Error clearance Soft Font Generate The files generated for PCL6 (PCL XL) fonts were named with double .sfx.sft extensions instead of just .sfx.
Error clearance Soft Font Generate If the font header, or any segment in the header, exceeded 65535 bytes in length (as can be the case for a large font), the font header download sequences were incorrect, leading to corruption of the generated font.
Enhancement Soft Font Generate When generating a PCL5 soft font, the tool now checks for consistency between various fields in the donor TrueType font to determine whether or not the font is fixed-pitch or proportionally-spaced.
If an inconsistency is detected, then (provided that all of the characters in the selected mapping have the same advance width), the user is given the choice of whether or not to set the fixed-pitch attribute in the generated PCL5 soft font header.
Enhancement Soft Font Generate The tool now handles donor fonts which are contained within TrueType Collection (.ttc) files, as well as single font TrueType / OpenType (.ttf & .otf) files.
Enhancement Soft Font Generate The tool will now generate unbound fonts as well as (symbol set) bound fonts.
Enhancement Soft Font Generate The tool will now generate fonts bound to (PCL5) user-defined symbol sets.
Enhancement Symbol Set Generate New tool: generates downloadable PCL5 symbol set definitions.
